Classrooms - Kindergarten

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Welcome to Kindergarten! I am excited about the new school year and delighted that your child will be part of our wonderful Kindergarten community.  My goal is to inspire, encourage and support each child as they continue a journey of lifelong learning. I graduated from the University of Dayton in 2010 and joyfully co-taught Kindergarten at Walter Shade Early Childhood Center in West Carrollton last year. I was born and raised in Ohio in a suburb outside of Toledo called Sylvania. I am the middle child of five and I loved growing up in a big family. I enjoy rollerblading, cooking, baking, and laughing.

I am honored that you are sending me your child.  Our Kindergarten curriculum is challenging and the topics of study are science-based and propelled by the students’ curiosities. Language art is addressed in Writer’s Workshop and Reader’s Workshop through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We will read and write non-fiction and fiction books, poetry, and fairy tales. Singapore Math coupled with Math Work Stations utilizes manipulatives to explore problem solving, patterning, place value, money, time, measurements, and fractions. We will learn about nature and the world during Science and Social Studies. I will also collaborate with Mrs. Sloane, the Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher, to create a curriculum that intertwines Judaic and secular studies.

Please feel free to contact me about any concerns, questions, or confusions by stopping by after school, sending a note, or emailing me at gtita@daytonhillel.org. I will try to respond as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Grace Tita (Miss Tita)
